Jean DujardinOscar winner Natalie Portman (who's been taking time off since giving birth) had the privilege of revealing the winner of the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards Male Actor in a Leading Role trophy, and it wasn't George Clooney. In the battle of Clooney, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Demain Bichir, and Jean Dujardin, it was Dujardin who pulled off the upset and scored a victory for his terrific performance in The Artist.

This was the French comedian's first SAG nomination and win, and he looked totally surprised to be the victor. After repeating, "My God," over and over and over again, Dujardin got very emotional and said, "It's too much." He went on to admit being a bad student who never listened in class and always spent his time daydreaming. His teachers nicknamed him John of the Moon and, said Dujardin, "I realize now that I never stopped dreaming. Thank you very much. Thank you for this dream."

Dujardin also thanked his co-stars, his director, Harvey Weinstein, and the Screen Actors Guild members.

Brad Pitt and George Clooney’s debauched nominations were materialized, at the sacrificial expense of Fassbender’s cinematic absorption. Aha, what a veracious triumph for Jean Dujardin’s character of byronic proportions. Clooney’s potential win has officially receded.
