Christopher PlummerThe Screen Actors Guild Awards always kick off with actors talking about being actors. This year's opening bits were handled by Jon Cryer talking about spacesuits filled with urine, Emily Watson admitting she was terrified during her first film role, Amber Riley saying 11 years after playing a 15 year old in her first pilot she's still in high school, Jim Parsons revealing he was a hyena in a bizarre childrens' theatre production of Hansel & Gretel and did Guys and Dolls in a freezing warehouse for beer, and Rose Byrne confessing the last time she was allowed to sing in public was when she was 10 years old and played Mary Poppins. And that's how SAG opened up their 18th annual gathering of actors who honor actors for acting.

My Week with Marilyn star Michelle Williams had the honor of being the first presenter and revealing the winner of the Outstanding Male Actor in a Supporting Role. And the winner is...no surprise. It's Christopher Plummer from Beginners.

"I just can't tell you what fun I've had being a member of the world's second oldest profession," said Plummer, collecting his first SAG Award. "Actors are gregarious and wacky, are they not, and I love them dearly. And when they honor you, it's like being lit by the holy grail."

Plummer expressed his gratitude and admiration for his fellow nominees, and for his co-star Ewan McGregor. He also thanked everyone behind the film, Focus, and his daughter, Amanda - another "wacky actor."
