The fourth Ice Age film, the 3D animated family comedy Ice Age: Continental Drift, has added a batch of actors to its voice cast. 20th Century Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios just announced that in addition to all the key Ice Age players, the voice cast will feature Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lopez, Wanda Sykes, Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, Drake, Heather Morris, Joy Behar, Nicki Minaj, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Nick Frost, Kunal Nayyar, Alain Chabat, and JB Smoove.
Ray Romano and Queen Latifah will return as the woolly mammoth couple, Manny and Ellie. John Leguizamo is back voicing Sid the slooth and Denis Leary will once again be Diego, the saber-toothed tiger. Seann William Scott and Josh Peck are also onboard reprising their roles as the opposums, Crash and Eddie. Steve Martino (Horton Hears a Who!) and Michael Thurmeier (Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs) are directing.
Fox Animation also confirmed who some of the first-time Ice Age voice cast members will be playing. Renner will voice Gutt, a "self-styled master of the high seas who's determined to make Manny, Sid and Diego part of his crew." Sykes is Sid's grandmother and Palmer is Peaches, Manny and Ellie's teenage mammoth daughter. 30 Minutes or Less' Ansari will provide the voice of Squint, a prehistoric rabbit who thinks he's tough, and Drake is a handsome young woolly mammoth named Ethan who has the hots for Peaches. And Jennifer Lopez is Shira, Diego's new love interest.
The official synopsis: In Ice Age: Continental Drift, Scrat's nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he's been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences -- a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these earth-shattering upheavals, Sid reunites with his long lost family, and the gang encounters a ragtag menagerie of colorful new characters determined to stop them from returning home.
Ice Age: Continental Drift will be released on July 13, 2012.
