Transformers: Dark of the Moon Passes $1 Billion Mark

Transformers: Dark of the MoonTransformers: Dark of the Moon has followed in the footsteps of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, earning over $1 billion at the worldwide box office as of August 3rd. The final film of the Harry Potter franchise crossed the $1 billion in ticket sales mark on July 31st, making it the first film of the blockbuster franchise to enter the exclusive billion dollar club.

Paramount reports the third Transformers film has grossed $338 million domestically and $663 million internationally.

Commenting on Dark of the Moon's box office take, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Paramount Pictures Brad Grey stated, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon is the first billion dollar grossing movie in the history of Paramount Pictures, marking a substantial milestone in the 99 year life of this legendary studio. We are grateful for the extraordinary work of Michael Bay and his film-making team, executive producer Steven Spielberg, and everyone at Paramount around the globe who played a part in helping make this latest Transformers one of the 10 highest grossing films worldwide of all time."

Transformers: Dark of the Moon hit theaters on June 29th and was the first film of the series to be released in 3D.
