Dwayne Johnson will be taking on the role of Roadblock in the sequel to G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes. Channing Tatum is expected to return as Duke and Byung-hun Lee is expected back as Storm Shadow. Jon M Chu (Step Up 3D) is directing the sequel.
The Hollywood Reporter says RZA and D.J. Cotrona are in negotiations to join G.I. Joe 2.
Johnson confirmed his involvement on his Twitter account:
"It's official: Call the Pentagon, get me my big ass gun - Rocks a JOE!"
This morning he told his Twitter followers he's actively preparing for the role:
"Launching into my GI Joe training now - 2x's a day. U have my word GI Joe will be iconic and bad ass."
The first G.I. Joe, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, was released in August 2009 and made $54 million over its opening weekend (the budget was estimated to be $175 million). The sequel is expected to hit theaters next summer.
