Lionsgate announced Jennifer Lopez will be joining the romantic comedy Cameron Diaz in the big screen adaptation of What to Expect When You're Expecting. Lopez and Diaz are taking on starring roles in the film based on the bestselling book by Heidi Murkoff. Lopez will play "a woman who adopts a baby from abroad with her husband after difficulty conceiving."
Murkoff's book has sold over 16 million copies and is a "modern look at love through the eyes of four interconnected couples experiencing the thrills and surprises of having a baby, and ultimately coming to understand the universal truth that no matter what you plan for, life doesn't always deliver what's expected."
Shooting is expected to begin this summer, with the film heading toward a Mother's Day Weekend 2012 release. Kirk Jones (Waking Ned Devine, Nanny McPhee) is directing from a script by Heather Hach (re-written by Shauna Cross).
