Julia Ormond is Superman's Mother

Russell Crowe is Superman's Krypton dad, Jor-el, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane are Clark Kent's Earth parents, and now The Hollywood Reporter says Julia Ormond has been offered the role of Superman's mom from Krypton, Lara in Man of Steel. Ormond just completed work on My Week with Marilyn in which she plays actress Vivien Leigh.

The cast of Man of Steel also includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, and Michael Shannon as General Zod. Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Sucker Punch) is directing from a script by David S Goyer, from a story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan (who's also producing).

Warner Bros is expecting to get filming underway in August.
