FilmDistrict has been extremely busy at this year's Cannes Film Festival. According to Deadline, they're currently in final negotiations for Looper starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Hesher), Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, and Paul Dano. FilmDistrict's working on picking up the US distribution rights in a deal that involves Sony's TriStar arm.
Looper was written and directed by Rian Johnson (Brick, The Brothers Bloom) and follows "hitmen whose victims are sent back in time from the future to be executed. The Loopers bump them off in the present, so there is no trace of a crime in the future." Things fall apart when the killer (Gordon-Levitt) figures out his target (Willis) is his future self.
FilmDistrict also recently picked up the Gerard Butler-Jessica Biel romantic comedy Playing the Field and Arabian Nights starring Liam Hemsworth.
