Matthew McConaughey and Hilary Swank are confirmed to star in the dramatic film The Dallas Buyer's Club based on a true story. Content Films is in Cannes pumping up interest in the film and selling the international rights. Jean-Marc Vallee (The Young Victoria) is directing the project.
The Dallas Buyer's Club tells the story Texas electrician Ron Woodroof who became frustrated with the lack of medical options after being diagnosed with AIDS and turned to smuggling illegal drugs into the US to help patients struggling with the disease.
The film was originally set up at Universal Pictures and over the past few years has had Craig Gillespie and Marc Forster mentioned as interested in directing, and Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling rumored to be interested in taking the lead role.
