Aaron Eckhart's set to play Hook, Sean Bean (currently wowing HBO viewers in Game of Thrones) is Smee, and AnnaSophia Robb will be Wendy in Essential Entertainment's Pan [the working title], a twisted take on the characters created by J.M. Barrie. Ben Magrid wrote the screenplay which doesn't involve an eternally youthful flying boy and an evil pirate with a hook. Instead, this Pan's Captain Hook is a former police detective obsessed with tracking down a man who kidnaps and kills children. Wendy, the only survivor of the kidnapper, helps Hook track down the man who held her captive. Smee is a friend of Hook's who's the chief detective on the case.
Ben Hibon is making his feature film directorial debut with the thriller, with Renee Tab, Christopher Tuffin, Martin Shore, and Brooklyn Weaver producing. Pan's expected to begin filming this October.
Essential Entertainment's Pan isn't the only Peter Pan project in the works. Channing Tatum's working on an origin story that has Captain Hook and Peter Pan as brothers.
