Arthur failed to impress audiences but that's not stopping director Adam Shankman from signing up Russell Brand for his upcoming film project. Shankman tweeted the news that Brand's now official part of the cast of Rock of Ages:
"I can officially announce Russell Brand as your Lonny in #rockofagesmovie ! I see a mullet in his future...maybe a Nikki Six?"
Brand's joining a cast which includes Tom Cruise as Stacee Jaxx, Diego Boneta as Drew Boley, Julianne Hough as Sherrie Christian, Alec Baldwin as Dennis Dupree, and Mary J Blige as Justice Charlier. Shooting is expected to begin next month with a release date set of June 1, 2012.
Set up at New Line Cinema, Rock of Ages is filled with tunes from the 1980s. Per the musical's official site: "In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl met a big city rocker and in LA's most famous rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s. It's Rock of Ages, an arena-rock love story told through the mind-blowing, face-melting hits of Journey, Night Ranger, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Asia, Whitesnake, and many more."
