Walt Disney Studios issued a super short but sweet statement revealing a new project for filmmaker Marc Forster. Forster, whose credits include Quantum of Solace, The Kite Runner, Finding Neverland and the upcoming Machine Gun Preacher with Gerard Butler, is working with Disney on a sci-fi project called The Runner. Dave Andron (Justified) came up with the story idea and is penning the script.
According to The Studio System, The Runner is set in a future where the surface of the Earth has been made uninhabitable following a horrible attack. After a system to send someone back in time to stop the attack is developed, a survivor volunteers to face the dangers and try and halt the attack. But, he's actually got a much more personal reason for wanting to be the one sent back in time...

There's no word yet on when the studio hopes to get the film into production. Forster's currently in post-production on Machine Gun Preacher and is attached to direct World War Z and The Chancellor Manuscript.
