It's belated, but at least Michael Bay finally has come right out and said his second Transformers movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, was actually "crap." In an exclusive interview with Empire Magazine, Bay blamed the problems with Transformers 2 on the writers' strike and having to get the film into production without a real workable script.
Says Bay, "The real fault with [Transformers 2] is that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back at it, that was crap. The writers' strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you've got to have a story in three weeks."
Bay claims he only had 14 pages of ideas of "what the movie was" and had to start filming in order to make the June 24, 2009 release date. But he believes the third film of the franchise, which is the first to be shot in 3D, will win back fans of the original film who thought the second Transformers movie was a mess. With Transformers: Dark of the Moon hitting theaters on July 1st, Bay's admission that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was crap is a very smart move. Fessing up to the fact he let ticket buyers down could convince those sitting on the fence to come back for the third Transformers knowing Bay realizes mistakes were made and has promised to correct them.
