Charlize Theron will be co-starring with Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace in Ridley Scott's Prometheus set up at 20th Century Fox, reports Variety. Scott had been working on an Alien prequel and that project evolved into Prometheus, a sci-fi epic having - according to Scott - Alien touches."While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place," said Scott in a January 15th press release announcing the film's new name. "The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien's DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart."
Fox is aiming for a June 2012 release.
Theron recently wrapped up work on Jason Reitman's Young Adult and may be starring as the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman (which films this summer).
