Gravity had better be worth it after all these months of hearing about one big name actor after another attaching themselves and then leaving the project. The latest actor to have his name thrown into Gravity is Oscar winner George Clooney who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, has been signed up to star opposite Sandra Bullock. Robert Downey Jr recently vacated the role due to other commitments, and it appears director Alfonso Cuaron has lassoed Clooney for the role. The male role in Gravity is actually a smaller supporting part, with Bullock's character handling the majority of the screen time. Despite the size of the role, Downey Jr had been attached for the longest to the project as a series of actresses came and went. Bullock finally settled into the role which had at times interested Angeline Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, and Natalie Portman.
Gravity is an epic survival story about a female astronaut (Bullock) who has to try and stay alive after the space station is damaged. The project's set up at Warner Bros and is expected to - barring any other cast changes - begin shooting early next year.
