Tom Hardy has become one of the most sought-after actors since his scene-stealing turn in Inception and now The Playlist reports Hardy's being courted to star in Snow White and the Huntsman, a live-action, big-budget adventure film set up at Universal Pictures. Also being wooed for a role is Angelina Jolie who, if the stars line up, will play the film's villain, an evil queen named Ravenna.Hardy would have to squeeze the film in between McG's This Means War, which should wrap up later this year, and before shooting Christopher Nolan's Batman #3 which is likely to begin filming in April 2011. And somewhere in the mix he's fitting in a supporting role in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, a thriller based on the John le Carre novel. Hardy's also got the starring role in Mad Max: Fury Road whenever that film gets back in gear and is rumored to be in the running for the lead in the remake of Total Recall (though Colin Farrell's supposedly at the top of that casting wish list).
The Playlist got a hold of the script and is upbeat about the Snow White project. "[...]one of the better action-adventure scripts we've read in a while. It's faithful to the fairy tale, beat-for-beat, but manages to remain fresh and surprising in a way that, say, Burton's film didn't. And Hardy's role, as Eric, the huntsman haunted by the death of his wife at the hands of a white wolf, is a doozy -- tragic, heroic but with enough roguish charm to play to his strengths -- and should see him move even further up the A-list."
