Christian Bale The Dark Knight photo /Christopher Nolan has revealed the title to his third Batman film and it's a beauty. Batman #3 will officially be called The Dark Knight Rises, so says Nolan in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. The critically acclaimed filmmaker also put an end to the rumors that the third Batman movie will involve the Riddler. However, he didn't go as far as to reveal who will be the villain in The Dark Knight Rises. Rumors had been circulating that Nolan could possibly cast one of his Inception stars, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as the Riddler but he told the LAT in no uncertain terms that's not going to happen: "It won't be the Riddler."

Another important piece of the Batman puzzle was revealed as Nolan confirmed to the LAT Warner Bros has agreed to not making a 3-D version of The Dark Knight Rises. Nolan will film using high def and IMAX cameras, but won't have to worry about shooting in 3-D.

Casting is underway on The Dark Knight Rises with Tom Hardy already nabbing a role as an undisclosed villain. But as far as any real details on the plot, we're still being kept in the dark. The only comment Nolan did make in regards to where The Dark Knight Rises will head was to say, "We'll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we'll be introducing some new ones."

The Dark Knight Rises...love the title...will begin shooting in April 2011 with Warner Bros setting a July 20, 2012 release date.
