Jennifer Lawrence photo /The 2010 Hollywood Awards Gala took place last night in Beverly Hills and catching any interviews on the red carpet at the star-studded event was extremely difficult. The celebs pretty much flew by on their way to eating, drinking, and celebrating with the event's winners, but I did manage to snag a minute with 20 year old up-and-coming actress Jennifer Lawrence. The star of the critically acclaimed indie Winter's Bone (she's likely to be up for many awards - maybe even an Oscar - for her performance) was presented with the 'New Hollywood Award' at the gala, but that's not the only reason Lawrence has to celebrate. She's currently at work on one of 2011's big releases, X-Men: First Class, playing the younger version of Rebecca Romijn's Mystique in the prequel to the X-Men films set in the 1960s.

After congratulating her on her win, I asked Lawrence about working on the new X-Men movie. Photos recently hit the internet showing her character arm-in-arm with James McAvoy as Professor Charles Xavier with no explanation as to why the two are together. But Lawrence, who recently revealed she's only in the Mystique costume (blue skin and scales) for 10% of the film, said the characters are just "best friends."
