Judy Blume's Tiger Eyes Movie in the Works

By October 19, 2010

Follow me on:

Judy Blume's work is finally heading to the big screen. Tiger Eyes, her young-adult novel about a teenager dealing with the death of her father, is being made into a film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Blume's books have been adapted for the small screen, but Tiger Eyes marks the first time one of her novels has been adapted into a feature film.

For those Blume fans worrying how Tiger Eyes will make the leap to the big screen, it should help ease your fears knowing that Blume and her son, Lawrence, co-wrote the script. Lawrence will also take on the job of directing the project.

The synopsis of Tiger Eyes from Blume's website: "After Davey's father is killed in a hold-up, she and her mother and younger brother visit relatives in New Mexico. Here Davey is befriended by a young man who helps her find the strength to carry on and conquer her fears."

There's no word yet on casting or when production is likely to start.

I love this book. I read it for the first time about 28 years ago and it’s one of my favorites. I really cannot wait for the movie!
