James Cameron plus Angelina Jolie in 3D in a feature film based on the true story of the Queen of Egypt? It could be happening, according to Deadline. Jolie's attached to star in a film about Cleopatra based on the book by Stacy Schiff (Cleopatra: A Life) and adapted by Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential, Mystic River, Robin Hood). And Deadline says James Cameron and Sony have been talking about the possibility of him directing the project.Cleopatra's moving forward at a brisk pace because Sony Co-Chairman Amy Pascal is apparently thrilled with Helgeland's script, which she describes as "brilliant" and "deserving of epic treatment." Pascal also believes that Jolie is meant to play the part of Cleopatra.
Deadline also reported the film, which of course will be epic in scale, will be aiming for a PG-13 rating.
Cameron's got a slew of projects in the works, including the sequels to Avatar. But if Sony really wants to get moving on Cleopatra, this could wind up being the next film Cameron directs.
