It appears Emma Stone is just about to be offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in the reboot of the Spider-Man franchise. Deadline says Sony Pictures is ready to get Stone locked in for the part, while the search seems to be narrowed down to just four actresses in the running to play Gwen.Deadline reports Dianna Agron (Glee and I Am Number Four), Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott (Moon) are being considered for the role of Gwen, played by Bryce Dallas Howard in 2007's Spider-Man 3. The reboot of the Spidey franchise will be directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer) from a script by James Vanderbilt (The Losers) and will take the webslinger back to his high school days. Andrew Garfield (currently onscreen in The Social Network) takes over the lead role from Tobey Maguire.
Stone's Easy A opened to positive reviews and has generated good business at the box office, bringing in $42 million domestically since its release on September 17th. The 21 year old actress also starred in the successful horror comedy, Zombieland, for Sony Pictures Entertainment. And she's currently busy playing Skeeter in the big screen adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's bestselling novel, The Help which, coincidentally, stars Bryce Dallas Howard.
