After his award-winning role in The Hurt Locker, Jeremy Renner's career has taken off like a rocket. He wasn't exactly slacking off before Kathryn Bigelow's Oscar-winning film, but now his name's being mentioned in association with bigger projects - like Mission Impossible IV. Deadline reports Renner landed a starring role alongside Tom Cruise (who supposedly took a massive pay cut for the fourth MI film) in the action drama to be directed by Brad Bird.Paramount's keeping all the details on MI:4 top secret, and so far no one's revealed anything about Andre Nemec and Josh Appelbaum's script. MI:4 will be produced by MI:3 director J.J. Abrams, Cruise, and Paula Wagner. Filming's expected to begin this fall with Paramount aiming for a Dec. 16, 2011 release.
In addition to signing up for Mission Impossible, Renner recently landed one of the key roles in The Avengers. He's also got Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master and The Raven on his plate, and will next be seen in theaters in Ben Affleck's The Town.
