The combination of Christopher Nolan, an intriguing premise, and mostly positive reviews catapulted Warner Bros Pictures' Inception to the top of the box office chart at the end of its first weekend in release. Inception's opening weekend take of $60+ million was at the high end of pre-release estimates, however the weekend's other big studio release - The Sorcerer's Apprentice - failed to live up to expectations. The Sorcerer's Apprentice only managed to scrape up $24 million since its release last Wednesday, which was hardly what Disney expected of the Nicolas Cage/Jerry Bruckheimer/Jon Turteltaub project. The Sorcerer's Apprentice's tepid take comes on the heels of a lackluster performance by Disney's last live-action action film, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.Top 10 Films for Weekend Ending July 18, 2010
