After having the brakes thrown on just days before going into production and then losing its director (Steven Soderbergh) and going through a rewrite, Moneyball seems to be back on track and finally moving forward. Brad Pitt stayed with the project throughout all its ups and downs, and the cast that's been built up around him is impressive. Robin Wright, Jonah Hill, Kathryn Morris, Stephen Bishop and Philip Seymour Hoffman have all committed to being a part of Moneyball, and now The Hollywood Reporter says Park and Recreation standout Chris Pratt will be joining the baseball movie.

Last July Columbia Pictures called in Aaron Sorkin to rewrite the script and tapped Bennett Miller (Capote) to helm the project. Based on the bestselling book Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis, the film examines Oakland A's General Manager Billy Beane's unique approach to building a major league baseball team.

Pratt will be playing Scott Hatteberg, a former Boston Red Sox catcher who suffered a ruptured nerve in his elbow. That injury effectively ended his catching career, however in January 2002 the Oakland A's signed him up to play first base. Hatteberg was recruited by the A's because of his high on-base percentage and not for his defensive skills, however he turned out to be a decent first baseman and helped the team reach the playoffs in 2002 and 2003.

Filming is currently underway in Oakland, CA.
