Universal Pictures picked up David Guggenheim's Safe House script back in February and things appear to be moving forward quickly on the project. The studio's set Daniel Espinosa (Snabba Cash) to direct and Denzel Washington is now in negotiations to star in the thriller. If Washington's deal goes through, he'd be playing a dangerous prisoner who has to be transported to a second safe house after the first secret location was attacked and all of the CIA agents protecting him, except one, killed off.
There's no word on when filming is expected to start or on who will be playing the sole surviving CIA agent.
