Cameron Crowe's We Bought a Zoo is close to signing on a leading man. According to Variety, Matt Damon's in talks to star in the film adaptation of Benjamin Mee's memoir.If the deal goes through, Damon would play Benjamin, a husband and father who, along with the rest of his family, buys a dilapidated zoo and tries to whip it back into shape. At the same time he's trying to get the zoo back in shape, Benjamin's wife is battling cancer. Mee's book tells the story of how the family coped with the emotional turmoil and how the zoo and its animal residents helped ease them through tough times.
20th Century Fox is aiming for a December 23, 2011 release.
