Breaking Dawn Split Into Two Films

After months and months of speculation, Summit Entertainment's finally made it official. Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, will be split into two films. Summit's following in the footsteps of Warner Bros with this decision as WB opted to split the final Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, into two films rather than try to cram everything necessary from the book into one final film and risk disappointing fans.

The first Breaking Dawn film will hit theaters on November 18, 2011. Bill Condon's signed on to direct both halves of the story, with the entire central cast - Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz - committed to both Breaking Dawn movies.

Melissa Rosenberg, the screenwriter responsible for adapting Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, is currently at work on Breaking Dawn, according to Summit. There's no word yet on when the second half of Breaking Dawn will be released. Filming on both halves is due to begin this fall.

Umm the reason it was a good reason for WB to do that for Deathly Hallows is because the whole book doesn’t have any subplot. Each chapter finishes off plots. The one the books start are pretty major ones too and get finished by the end. Nothing was left open. But with Breaking Dawn the whole book is filled with random crap that they can just cut and make it into 1 movie.

Summit just wants the money and if they think they are gonna have the best finally ever they are mistaken. The book was honestly the worst of the series.

Yep. Summit is doing it for the money because there really isn’t much to wrap up that they couldn’t fit into one movie. I love the series but seriously, it doesn’t need two films to bring it to a close. Maybe a 3 hour finale would would better?
