Bella Heathcote Wins Heath Ledger Scholarship

Colin Farrell put in a surprise appearance at the Australians in Film 6th Annual Breakthrough Awards ceremony in Hollywood, presenting the Heath Ledger Scholarship award to up-and-coming Aussie actress Bella Heathcote. Set up in memory of Heath Ledger, the scholarship has the support of Ledger's family and friends, including Jude Law, Nicole, Kidman, and Hugh Jackman. The 22 year old Heathcote was chosen out of hundreds of applicants and received $10,000 in cash and plane tickets. The award is designed to help a young Australian actor have a better shot at success in Hollywood.

Heath Ledger's mother and sister, Kate, attended the ceremony in Hollywood, and were very pleased with this year's selection of Heathcote as the scholarship winner. Prior to the awards ceremony, Ledger's family and Heathcote talked about what the award means to them:
