The Hollywood Reporter says Glee star Cory Monteith has landed a new gig. However, Glee fans might be disappointed to learn Monteith probably won't be using his singing and dancing skills in the new project: the teen film Monte Carlo starring Selena Gomez and set up at Fox 2000. Also joining the adventure film is Katie Cassidy (Harper's Island, Melrose Place, and Supernatural) who'll next be seen in A Nightmare on Elm Street.Based on the Jules Bass book Headhunters published in 2001, Monte Carlo finds Gomez playing a teen named Grace who's mistaken for a socialite while on a trip to Paris. Flying off to Monte Carlo for a charity ball and auction, Grace and her friends find themselves involved in the search for a million dollar necklace that goes missing.
Monte Carlo will be directed by Tom Bezucha from a screenplay he worked on with April Blair (the script's been through a series of writers before Blair and Bezucha took a shot at it). Also signed on are Andie MacDowell (as Gomez' mom) and Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl). Nicole Kidman has been attached to the project since 2005 and was, at one point, set to star in the film. That's no longer happening, but she's still involved as a producer.
Filming is expected to begin soon, with production taking place in Budapest, Hungary, Monte Carlo, Monaco, and Paris and Nice, France.
