Joel Silver's Dark Castle Entertainment picked up Splice and Warner Bros announced they're aiming for a June 4th release of the horror/sci-fi thriller which debuted at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Directed by Vincenzo Natali (Paris je t'aime, Cube), Splice stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as genetic engineers who combine the DNA of different animals to create hybrids. Then they take their experiments one step further and, without permission, use human DNA in a hybrid, pushing the bounds of science by creating an extraordinary new creature they name 'Dren'.

In a press release announcing the acquisition, Joel Silver said, "Vincenzo has made a thought-provoking thriller that combines horror, science fiction and moments of dark humor in a fascinating exploration of one of today's most controversial topics. Splice is like nothing you've ever seen before."

Natali co-wrote the screenplay with Antoinette Terry Bryant and Doug Taylor. Steven Hoban produced Splice with Sidonie Dumas, Christophe Riandee, Guillermo del Toro, Don Murphy, Susan Montford and Yves Chevalier executive producing.
