Hugo Weaving may be reuniting with his The Wolfman director Joe Johnston for The First Avenger: Captain America. Heat Vision reports Weaving's in talks to play Red Skull in the upcoming Captain America movie currently in pre-production.If Weaving signs on, he'll be the first actor confirmed for a major role in Captain America. Johnston still hasn't settled on who will play the lead role, though it's believed Garrett Hedlund, Mike Vogel, and Chris Evans are still in the running.
Marvel Comics describes Johann Shmidt ('Red Skull') as the right-hand man of Hitler, personally trained by the leader of the Third Reich to be the head of Nazi terrorist activities. To up the intimidation factor, Hitler gave Johann a uniform featuring a red skull mask and he became known as Red Skull. Red Skull was put into suspended animation after losing a fight to Captain America and was brought back around in modern times by the terrorist organization, HYDRA.
Marvel's aiming for a July 22, 2012 release of The First Avenger: Captain America.
