Valentine's Day Movie Review

Valentine's Day gives the holiday, romance, romantic comedies, and florists a bad name. Director Garry Marshall helms this ensemble piece which is long on running time (125 painful minutes) and short on laughs. Valentine's Day's many shortcomings can't be overcome by throwing another recognizable 'name' actor into the mix, though that seems to be what's happened here. Jam-packed with familiar faces, Valentine's Day is plagued with phoned-in performances, banal dialogue, and some of the most ridiculous storylines you'll ever encounter in a major feature film. Sigh. Though I knew better, with this cast I’d hoped this might be a NetFlix time killer down the road. But Marshall is a hack who paints with an industrial sized sprayer. He must have donkey show vids of all these actors. Two words – pathetic & payday.

There is a reason this movie is at 15% rotten on Rotten Tomatoes! It was horrible. I may have chuckled a couple of times but not funny overall and definitely would not recommend it to any guy that doesn’t “have” to go.

The movie is very sweet! I really enjoyed it. Just watch the trailers and no doubt if you have not seen it yet, you will feel like watching it immediately with the person you love

I just recently went to the movie theatre hoping to see shutter island but it was sold out, I really never had interest in seeing this movie but the wait was only 5 minutes soo we chose it. And to my suprise I actually liked it! I laugh, I cried, and I even wanted to throw my shoe at patrick dempsey(which is odd seeing as I wanted to marry this guy). Overall I really enjoyed this movie and I think it being cheesy and a little hectic and what not was part of the point, is that not what valentines day is like anyway ?

I agree the movie was supposed to be cheesy with bad one liners. I believe that is what director Garry Marshall had in mind. Taylor Swift was supposed to be a ditsy teenager. I liked how Shirley MacLaine’s character is an actor and that during the Cemetery/Outdoor movie scene with her and Hector Elizondo they are standing in front of the screen that was playing one of her movies. I loved how in the airport scene there were two gentleman holding signs for Unger and Madison. Not sure some of the younger audience would get that, but it was a humorous touch to us over 40 crowd. I liked when Julie Roberts was being chauffeured down Rodeo Drive the dialogue between the Chauffer and Julia’s character made reference to her Pretty Women role. I loved the suspense of Julie Roberts’s character on who she was going home to. I loved the secret that Eric Dane’s character had and how that played out as well as Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Ashton Kutcher, Jessica Alba, Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Jessica Biel, Jamie Fox, Emma Roberts, Carter Jenkins, and the kiddie romance. I especially liked how they all connected. If you’re looking for big laughs, more serious and less silly don’t go see this movie. However, if you want something that you really don’t have to think about, see a lot of great actors just having fun, with some minor humor this movie is entertaining. Not Oscar-Nominating quality but not a D- either. I give it a C+.

Just saw the movie Valentines Day. Taylor Swift better leave acting alone. She was rotten. Her singing is not much better. I thnk she better go find a new career.

Does this movie ever end? Seriously, it could have ended well before they finally faded to black and started rolling the credits! And to think that they are making a sequel called New Year’s Eve or whatever it is called. I would rather get the two hours of my life back that I lost watching this movie than to see another sequel to this.
