Academy favorite Meryl Streep took the stage to present the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role to first-time SAG award winner Jeff Bridges for Crazy Heart. Bridges had been nominated twice before for The Contender and Seabiscuit. In his acceptance speech Bridges said, "I love being an actor, you know, pretending to be other people, getting you into the shoes of other folks..." And then Bridges was told to wrap it up - just when he got started. Thankfully, Meryl Streep told him not to listen to whoever it was prompting him to get off the stage. Bridges did speed up his speech, thanking all his co-stars, his director, and his singing coach. Bridges ended his thank you with a shout-out to his stand-in, his parents, and his wife, Sue. He then raised the trophy over his head and said, "Thank all of you guys. Love playing with you!"
