Ellen Page played a lot of sports as a kid, and playing a high school student who falls in love with the sport of roller derby in Whip It allowed her to throw her athletic body into a part in a way she hadn't really before. At the LA press day for the Fox Searchlight film directed by first-timer Drew Barrymore, Page admitted she had an absolute blast doing the film and getting to skate around the rink pushing people around."The roller derby aspect was incredibly enticing and the prospect of learning that sport was incredibly exciting," said Page about the appeal of Whip It. "Then the relationships to me in this film felt incredibly sincere. And talking with Drew and knowing what her vision was, I was really into exploring that with her, and a mother/daughter story that felt like not something we'd ever really seen before. Read On...
