Yes, it's true. Columbia Pictures is readying another Ghost Rider film, most likely with Nicolas Cage in the title role but without writer/director Mark Steven Johnson. Variety reports David Goyer's been approached to supervise the writing of the script.According to Variety, whoever is tapped to ultimate finesse the Ghost Rider 2 screenplay will be working off of a script Goyer came up with years ago for the first Ghost Rider movie that wasn't used. Ghost Rider hit theaters in February 2007 and was critically panned, though it did bring in $52 million its opening weekend (half of its overall budget). The move forward with Ghost Rider 2 now is likely prompted by Disney's purchase of Marvel, a move which pursuaded multiple studios into rushing into development Marvel projects for fear they'll lose the rights to Disney if they don't push forward with films based on Marvel's characters.
