The Informant! Movie Review

Follow me on:

Matt Damon packed on 30 pounds to play a wacky, delusional corporate whistle-blower in The Informant!, a comedy which reunites the actor with his Ocean's 11, 12 and 13 director Steven Soderbergh. One of the most entertaining, well-written and funny movies of 2009, The Informant! was worth the weight gain for Damon as he delivers what's easily his best performance to date. Read On...

I can’t wait to see this movie. I am glad to see you gave it a good review. And, even with 30 extra lbs, Matt Damon is still cute!

I saw the movie today and it was alright! Further along the movie became more interesting and funny…Matt Damon did a good job at portraying a guy that just could not tell the truth no matter what. Unfortunatly for me this was not a stretch as these are the type of people I seem to run across quite often. However his actions/lies were on a larger scale..I will definelty rent it when it comes out on video…all in all way better than good shepard but not better than the departed…I really love Damon though and he is definetly one of the best actors of my generation I am 39 and have enjoyed all of his work…Good Will one of the best of all time! Love Matt and he really did not look that bad with a couple extra pounds he can wear and do anything:)lol

In spite of the numerous good reviews, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with the majority here. Firstly, because Damon only stretches himself by a mere 0.1% from his typical Bourne identity to merge into his new character role as Mark Whitacre in The Informant, it was by far not one of his best works. Secondly, I was in a packed house when the show commenced, and by the end of the film only 3/4 of the chairs were occupied as the overly-dry, cantankerous humor played its course throughout the mildly-filibustered, drawn out narration diologue by Damon the entire movie. Thus, this fluke of a movie proves to be no more than one of those subtle tongue-in-cheek extravaganzas that will soon be forever lost in the archives of less than mediocre comedies.
So… are you still waiting for the detailed rebuttal here… well here it goes. It begins slow and gruesome like a train wreck in slow motion, followed by various story buffers that pillow its weak elements of horrible acting and convoluted storyline. However, after nearly 30 minutes of suspenseful, meandering around the main plot of Damon’s inside job at ADM Corporation, a slight laugh can be paid to the German businessman points out to Whitacre that his pen is leaking through his shirt. And no, there is no quantum leap for Scott Bakula in his role as an FBI agent (Yes, I was hoping for that too). I will not be going into a spoiler here, but I will say that no one deserves to ever be emersed into the mind of an overly-educated bipolar unless the one watching it is in fact act Mark Whitacre himself! In conclusion, do your date a favor and take them to see something more substantial like Kindergarten Cop…

This movie was absolutely terrible. I almost fell asleep watching it. I tried to get into it, but I couldn’t believe how boring it was. It took almost the entire 2 hours before it made any sense and then it really didn’t matter because it was the worse movie I’d ever seen.

I wanted so much to like this movie. But it was awful – just AWFUL… I don’t know how anybody could see anything else… It wasn’t funny – it was sad and boing… It could have been a good movie, but from the writing, to the score, to the “laugh-in” type graphics, it’s didn’t work on so many levels… Save your money & don’t see this one.
