Sex and the City 2 Starts Filming

Sex fans have reason to rejoice. The much-anticipated sequel to the 2008 smash hit, Sex and the City, has begun shooting in New York City. All of the lovely ladies - Sarah Jessica Parker ('Carrie'), Kim Cattrall ('Samantha'), Kristin Davis ('Charlotte') and Cynthia Nixon ('Miranda') - are returning in starring roles, with Michael Patrick King returning as both writer and director.

Other familiar faces back for more Sex are Chris Noth ('Mr. Big'), David Eigenberg ('Steve'), Evan Handler ('Harry'), Jason Lewis ('Smith'), Mario Cantone ('Anthony') and Willie Garson ('Stanford Blatch').

In a press release announcing the start of principal photography, Parker said, "It’s a great privilege to be spending time again with this beloved cast and crew and to be filming in New York City. We look forward to the next few months of this adventure."

Writer/producer/director King added, "We are thrilled to have the luxury to continue to tell the story of these four iconic women characters: Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. We will do our best to entertain the loyal fans who were so supportive of the first movie."

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros Pictures are aiming for a May 2010 release of Sex and the City 2. The first Sex and the City film inspired by the HBO series hit theaters on May 30, 2008 and made over $400 million worldwide before exiting theaters.
