DreamWorks Studios announced Al Gough and Miles Millar will be adapting I Am Number 4 with Michael Bay (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) producing the project. Bay may also direct, according to DreamWorks. I Am Number 4 is the first in a series of four young adult books, written by James Frey and Jobie Hughes, about nine earthbound aliens who escaped to Earth before their planet was destroyed. Number 4 takes the form of a human high school student in order to disguise himself, but trouble finds him anyway as he discovers he's being tracked by one of his enemy's who destroyed his planet.
In the press release announcing Gough and Miller's attachment, Co-President of Production for DreamWorks Studios Mark Sourian said, "We couldn't be more thrilled to have Al and Miles joining DreamWorks on this exciting project. Their body of work illustrates their expertise in this genre and we look forward to them bringing their vision to this very unique property."
Gough and Millar's credits include Shanghai Noon, Spider-Man 2, Herbie: Fully Loaded, and The Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. There's no word yet on when production is expected to begin.
