I'm greeting this news with the same reaction I had to the news of an Asteriods movie: huh? The Hollywood Reporter says - and I don't have any reason to believe they're joking - DreamWorks is putting together a movie based on the Fisher-Price toy, the ViewMaster. I'm not really sure what about ViewMaster the toy lends itself to a feature film. I mean, isn't it just a gadget that lets you look at 3D pictures? Maybe I'm missing something here...
Apparently DreamWorks is working on getting the rights to make the movie and if everything goes through, they'll set Brad Caleb Kane (Fringe) to work on the script. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the guys who wrote Transformers, Star Trek and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will produce the family-friendly film.
