Cher Returns in a Big Way
Wednesday June 24, 2009
Cher's been busy singing and dancing and keeping audiences happy away from movie theaters, but now she's ready to return to the big screen in two very different film projects. The 63 year old entertainer has joined the cast of Burlesque, a dramatic movie written/directed by Steve Antin (Chasing Papi) and starring Christina Aguilera. Variety reports Cher will be playing a retired dancer who runs a burlesque club, a role which will mark her first time playing a character who sings. Aguilera's been cast as a small town girl who lands a job entertaining at the club.Cher will also be lending her voice to the live-action film The Zookeeper starring Kevin James (Paul Blart: Mall Cop) and Rosario Dawson. Cher, Adam Sandler, Sylvester Stallone, Judd Apatow, Jon Favreau, Jim Breuer, and Faizon Love will provide the voices of animals in the MGM comedy. Sandler's Happy Madison production company is producing the pic with Sandler's frequent collaborator, Frank Coraci (Click, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer), directing. The story follows a group of zoo animals who decide to help their zookeeper out by breaking their code of silence and talking to him about the ins and outs of dating.
