Film adaptations of TV shows don't always work and maybe I'm engaging in a lot of wishful thinking here, but I think an A-Team movie could actually be decent. 20th Century Fox has given Joe Carnahan (Smokin' Aces) the job of directing the action film, with production expected to start later this summer. And now after months of speculation The Hollywood Reporter says Bradley Cooper, one-third of the trio of hungover friends in Warner Bros Pictures' The Hangover, will play the film's pretty boy - Lt. Templeton 'Faceman' Peck. Variety is reporting Liam Neeson, currently at work on Clash of the Titans, will take on the role of Col. John 'Hannibal' Smith.Like the 1980s show, this A-Team will follow the exploits of four war veterans framed for a crime they did not commit. The series ran from 1983 - 1987 and starred Dirk Benedict as Faceman, George Peppard as Hannibal, Mr T as Sgt. Bosco 'B.A.' Baracus, and Dwight Schultz as Capt. H.M. 'Howling Mad' Murdock. There's no word yet on who will play B.A. and Murdock in the film, however it's been rumored Common (Terminator Salvation) is in the running for the B.A. role.
Tony and Ridley Scott are producing The A-Team which is aiming for a June 11, 2010 release.
