JJ Abrams (director of the upcoming Star Trek movie) is ready to bring The Untold Story of the World's Biggest Diamond Heist to the screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Abrams is, at the very least, producing the film based on a Wired magazine article which Paramount Pictures snatched up the film rights to. Joshua Davis' Wired article follows the true story of a $100 million diamond heist pulled off in Antwerp, Belgium back in 2003.
More Thor Casting Rumors
So we know that Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood, Generation Kill) is in the running for the role of Thor, and we know Josh Hartnett's being considered for some role in the movie - either Loki or Thor. But Deadline Hollywood's Nikki Finke is adding these names to the list of potential Thors: Charlie Hunnam, Tom Hiddleston, and Liam Hemsworth. Also considered to be a heavy favorite for the lead female role...Natalie Portman. Hmmm, I'm still rooting for Skarsgard as Thor. Get that right and the rest might not matter so much, at least not to me and fellow Skarsgard fans.
Transformers 3 Sets a Date
Although the studio isn't confirming there will even be a Transformers 3, they've set a date aside for its release - just in case. Right, like there's even a chance that they'll stop with Transformers 2. No way. It's not going to happen. Anyway, Variety reports Paramount and DreamWorks are currently in sole possession of the July 1, 2011 release date. The first Transformers hit theaters on July 3, 2007. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen opens on June 24, 2009.
Update: The Hollywood Reporter found a new message posted by Michael Bay saying Paramount mispoke. On Bay's official site's forum, Bay posted this message: "I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots."
