MacGyver Leaps from the Small Screen to Big
Monday March 16, 2009
I don't know... Maybe I'm just jaded, but I don't find the news that a MacGyver movie is in the works all that shocking. If an A-Team movie is plowing ahead, why not a MacGyver movie? Saturday Night Live has made the TV series, which started its run on the small screen in the mid-1980s, kind of hip again. The series had Richard Dean Anderson in the lead role as a secret agent who could take the most ordinary items and quicker than you could say James Bond, he'd use them as a means to escape dangerous situations. New Line is behind this film version, with Raffaella De Laurentiis, Martha De Laurentiis and the creator of the original series, Lee Zlotoff, producing. The Hollywood Reporter quotes New Line's Richard Brener as saying: "We think we're a stick of chewing gum, a paper clip and an A-list writer away from a global franchise."There's no word yet on who will take on the role of MacGyver, if Anderson will be involved, who will direct, or even who will be writing the script.

Hollywood!!!! Please take notice!!!! If you don’t make the script interesting enough to attract Richard Dean Anderson to play MacGyver in this movie, don’t even make it. MacGyver fans will only see this movie if RDA plays the title role. Please ignore these immature kids who never grew up with a classic show like MacGyver. They are used to the worthless trash on TV today. As for RDA being too old to play the part? Nonsense! Harrison Ford is much older than RDA and did a fine acting job in the last Indiana Jones movie. No…it didn’t do well but only because people were tired of another Indie sequel. Personally I liked it. As for MacGyver….ya gotta get Terry Hatcher (Penny Parker) Bruce McGill (Jack Dalton) and the guy who played Murdoc all in the movie. MacGyver without Jack Dalton would be like Kirk without Spock!!! So Hollywodd….you want a succesful MacGyver….get RDA!!!!!!
