If you're a subscriber to HBO and you've been keeping up on their original series', you're probably familiar with Alexander Skarsgard - though you may not know his name. The handsome 6'4"ish Swedish actor was recently seen as Sgt Brad Colbert on the HBO mini-series Generation Kill based on the book Evan Wright wrote after being embedded with the 1st Recon Marines in Iraq. Skarsgard's currently one of the stars of HBO's hit vampire series True Blood, playing 1,000+ year old Viking vampire Eric Northman in the show based on the Sookie Stackhouse stories by Charlaine Harris.But in addition to keeping busy with his TV commitments, Skarsgard's also had time to take on a few movie roles. On the 'blue' carpet at the 2009 Film Independent's Spirit Awards, Skarsgard shared the scoop on all of his projects. Our interview was a long one and is broken up into two parts. Part One concentrates on his True Blood work while Part Two delves into Generation Kill and his upcoming films:

OMG….he is so lovely. I hope America gets a lot more from this gorgeous and talented actor. My biggest wish is that he becomes a MAJOR PLAYER in HBO’s True Blood Season 2, and Alan Ball follows the books romance between Eric & Sookie. I will be very saddened if the show does not stick a little bit more towards the books. ERIC (Alex’s character) is THE HERO….among many other things in my dreams. Thanks for reading.

Great interview. I hope the HBO series follows the books and allows us to see the romance between Sookie and Eric unfold.
Alex seems like a nice guy but I love Stephen Moyer. Also I have read all 8 books and I never found the Eric character very appealing. He reminded me of all those cocky jock guys in high school or college who always thought too highly of themselves. Bill and Sookie are meant to be together and I hope Alan Ball can see that.
I love him in Generation Kill. I hope he gets more time on Season 2 of True Blood. I love the character of Eric in the books and I hope I get to see that on screen. Great job casting Alexander as Eric.
I think the entire cast of True Blood is terrific. I’m excited about the upcoming season, but a little worried about Eric’s new short hair…
