Twilight Updates - Baseball, Reshoots, and No Privacy Whatsoever

Vampires seem to be more popular now than at any other time in recent history. Alan Ball's brought the Sookie Stackhouse books to life in a sexy, down-and-dirty HBO series starring Anna Paquin as a telepathic barmaid who seems to be a magnet for the supernatural. And Stephenie Meyer released the fourth, and possibly last, book of the Twilight series this summer. With a film version of her first Twilight book set to hit theaters on November 21st, bloodsuckers are getting more than their fair share of media exposure.

While the stars of True Blood aren't being hounded by the media, the same can't be said for the Twilight actors. Every move they make seems to be photographed and analyzed, with new photos of Robert Pattinson ('Edward Cullen') hitting the web every day. Of course, if he wanted to stay out of the limelight he could choose to avoid going to clubs, but who's to deny him from having a good time when his career's just heating up. Other Twilight tidbits surfacing recently include news of reshoots for a key scene or two. MTV spoke with cast members and director Catherine Hardwicke who all seem to want to reassure fans the reshoots don't mean there are problems with film. The reshoots were to provide more backstory on the Cullen family and Pattinson also had to redo a scene in which he plays the piano for Bella (Kristen Stewart). "We reshot the 'Bella's Lullaby' scene with a different piece of music," said Pattinson in an interview with MTV. "I heard my original one the other day, and I really liked it. I was kind of depressed afterwards, but I like the new one as well. The new one I didn't write; the composer Carter Burwell did it."

And you don't need to be a sports freak, just a Twilight fan, to get excited about this last bit of Twilight news. One lucky Twilight fan has the chance to win a baseball signed by the cast of the film. The rules are fairly simple - register at the official site and follow the directions. The film's official site is running the contest now thru October 9th at 11:59p.m. Pacific Time.

I think Pattinson could be a huge movie star. The world needs new young actors to follow the Depp’s and Di Caprio’s of this world. Time for some fresh blood. Pattinson certainly has the talent, charisma and versatility. But does he have the dedication?
