Producer JJ Abrams set out to create an American version of the classic Japanese Godzilla films with Cloverfield, the action thriller that set the internet abuzz months prior to its release. While the movie's main monster, Clover, didn't exactly earn a place up next to Godzilla in our hearts, Cloverfield did manage to deliver the goods and is one of the better monster films of this decade.
