Penelope Cruz Discusses Volver

Filmmaker Pedro Almodovar always brings out the best in Penelope Cruz (Live Flesh, All About My Mother) and their latest collaboration, Volver, is no exception. Cruz picked up Best Actress honors (along with her female co-stars) at the Cannes Film Festival and is being mentioned as a possible Oscar nominee. The third film of the Mission Impossible series may well be its last. Audiences didn't turn out for the action thriller the way the studio had expected, and Paramount has since severed its production deal with Tom Cruise. If MI3 is the last one, then at least the franchise is going out on a high note as far as the film's entertainment value is concerned.- More on Mission Impossible 3:

Seeing Saw III was the thing to do over the Halloween weekend. The third film of the franchise opened in 3,167 theatres and brought in $33.6 million, easily beating the opening weekend numbers of Saw and Saw II. Saw III now holds the record for the highest grossing weekend in Lionsgate's history, knocking Saw II and its $31.7 million into second place. The gory horror film also beat the previous record for biggest grossing single day in Lionsgate's history by taking in $14.4 million on Friday (that record had been held by Madea's Family Reunion). Lionsgate studio execs are so thrilled with the performance of Saw III that they confirmed Saw IV will be unleashed on audiences over Halloween weekend 2007.Top 10 Films for the Weekend Ending 10/29/06:
