Hugh Jackman Discusses The Prestige
Thursday October 19, 2006
Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale star as magicians engaged in a bitter war of one-upmanship in the dramatic thriller, The Prestige.Although geeks around the world would rather see the two square off as Wolverine and Batman, The Prestige offers the opportunity for both actors to put aside their comic book-based characters and engage in a little magic. But that didn’t mean the two actors never discussed their high-profile roles while on the set. “I do remember Christian and I sitting there having an interesting discussion, waiting for a scene,” recalled Jackman. “We're in our directors' chairs and I don't know how it turned there, but we did turn into the, ‘So what did you get on your contract? Like on the second one, what did you get?’ Which is a problematic discussion, because we share the same agent. So this is a discussion agents don't want their clients to be having.” Read On...

Evan Rachel Wood Has Fun Running with Scissors
Evan Rachel Wood plays a messed up high school kid from the 1970s - complete with hot pants and platform shoes - in Running with Scissors, based on the memoirs of Augusten Burroughs. According to Wood, the set of Running with Scissors was one of the best she's ever worked on. "It was so kind of out there and you could just really go and do anything and say anything. It doesn't matter. It was just really open and everyone was really relaxed and laid back. And Ryan Murphy is the most well-dressed director I ever worked for. He always looked so cool on set with his white sun glasses and his jacket. It was very stylish." Read On...(Photo © TriStar Pictures)
Flags of Our Fathers Movie Review
Flags of Our Fathers isn't the gung-ho American war film that might be expected to come out of a collaboration between director Clint Eastwood and producer Steven Spielberg (Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan). The story Eastwood brings to the screen is based on true events, but unless you're familiar with the real story of the film's source material (the book by James Bradley) you might be taken aback. (Flags of Our Fathers is rated R for sequences of graphic war violence and carnage, and for language.)(Photo © DreamWorks Pictures)
It's a Family Affair for Jason Schwartzman with Marie Antoinette
Jason Schwartzman had absolutely no problem taking direction from his cousin writer/director/producer Sofia Coppola on the set of Marie Antoinette. The two get along well and because they've grown up together, Coppola could say things such as, "It's like when you were 5 and you were here..." and Schwartzman would immediately understand the tone of the scene. Schwartzman says it's probably unfair for him to compare her to other directors he's worked with, but admits it was wonderful to work for someone who could so easily relate ideas to him in such a personal way.(Photo © Columbia Pictures)

Interview with Joseph Fiennes
Joseph Fiennes looks so different in an authentic porn mustache (his idea) and 1970s-style clothing that Running with Scissors was half over before I realized who the actor was playing Neil Bookman. A very difficult part for any actor (Bookman's a pedophile with multiple mental disorders), Fiennes was more than ready for the challenge of tackling such a risky role.(Photo © TriStar Pictures)
