Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Movie Review

The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie took audiences by storm and had kids and adults alike uttering happy arghhhs along with the film's highly likeable cast. A pirate's life was tremendously appealing as long as Johnny Depp's androgynous Captain Jack Sparrow was in charge.

With Depp back for the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Pirates 3, the future couldn't have looked rosier for both the studio and moviegoers. But the bloom's off the rose (and not the 'Orlando' Bloom; he's better in Dead Man’s Chest than in the first film) as the sequel takes the wacky world of Disney pirates, tosses in everything including the kitchen sink, and expects audiences to sit through 2 ½ hours (you read that right) of confusing twists and dramatic turns.     Naomie Harris Talks About Pirates 2 and 3
    Naomie Harris (28 Days Later) takes on the role of a voodoo woman who helps Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) track down a key in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest. Talking about her role Harris said, "I was really excited about playing Tia Dalma because she allowed me to introduce physicality in a way that I haven’t introduced in other characters. She allowed me to be larger than life, which I hadn't been allowed to do in other characters. And she also didn't have to worry about being beautiful, which I really like, you know, just not having to worry about your looks and being conventionally attractive. But I think she's a hugely attractive character, but just not like in a conventional way, and I found that really liberating." Read On...
