Orlando Bloom Gets in Touch With His Inner Pirate

Monday July 3, 2006
Orlando Bloom returns as a sort of pirate-in-training in the second film of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, directed by Gore Verbinski and based on the popular ride at Disneyland.

In the first Pirates, Bloom's character Will Turner fell hard for Elizabeth Swann (played by Keira Knightley) and had to fight alongside the notorious Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in order to save Elizabeth from the evil Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) and his crew of undead pirates. Dead Man's Chest finds Will being hauled off to jail in the middle of his wedding to Elizabeth for the crime of helping Captain Jack escape from the gallows. Read On...

    Box Office Report - June 30-July 2
The Man of Steel didn't shatter records but Warner Bros has to be pretty satisfied with Superman Returns' $84 million score since opening on Wednesday, June 28th. That figure's ahead of what Batman Begins did but way behind Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds 4th of July opener. With Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest opening this week, chances are slim Superman Returns will retain the top position at the box office for more than just this week.

Top 10 Films for the Weekend Ending 07/02/06:
    1) Superman Returns - $52,535,096 ($84,593,540 since opening on June 28)
    2) The Devil Wears Prada - $27,537,244
    3) Click - $19,919,470
    4) Cars - $14,569,356
    5) Nacho Libre - $6,600,962
    6) The Lake House - $4,811,192
    7) Fast and the Furious: Toyko Drift - $4,485,585
    8) Waist Deep - $3,431,691
    9) The Break-Up - $2,990,680
    10) The Da Vinci Code - $2,425,158
